Neurology

Long-term conditions of the brain, spinal cord and nerves — managed with medicine, therapy and time rather than with an operation.

Neurology

Neurology covers the conditions of the brain, spinal cord and nerves that are treated with medicines, therapy and time rather than with an operation — Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, cerebral palsy and epilepsy among them.

How these cases are handled

Most are long-term conditions rather than single events, so the useful question is rarely which procedure but who supervises the treatment once you are home. We put your imaging and reports in front of a neurologist before travel is discussed, and where the honest answer is that a condition is better managed close to home, we say so and arrange a second opinion instead of a treatment package.

Where neurology ends and neurosurgery begins

When an operation is the answer — a tumour, an aneurysm, epilepsy that has resisted medication, deep brain stimulation — the case belongs under neurosurgery, and we move it there rather than treating the boundary as fixed. A good many patients need both, in that order.

What to send us

The full MRI or CT study on disc or by transfer, not screenshots; any nerve conduction, EEG or lumbar puncture reports; and the current medication list with doses. On a progressive condition older scans matter as much as recent ones, because the rate of change is itself the finding.

Treatments in Neurology

  • Parkinson's Disease Treatment

Medication that replaces the dopamine the brain has stopped making, therapy that keeps movement going, and surgery only when the tablets stop holding.

    Total stay: 30 days

  • Multiple Sclerosis Treatment

Disease-modifying therapy to slow the attacks, steroids or plasma exchange to shorten a relapse, and rehabilitation to hold on to function. There is no cure, an...

    Total stay: 21 days

  • Alzheimer's Disease Treatment

Medication that slows the decline, care that protects the person — and a frank account of why crossing a border for this is rarely the right decision.

    Total stay: 14 days

  • Cerebral Palsy Treatment

Therapy, tone management and selective surgery for a brain injury that does not worsen — aimed at function and comfort, not at a cure that does not exist.

    Total stay: 21 days
